This is what Donald Trump meant when he said that our relations with Russia have “never been worse.”

President Trump was in Helsinki, Finland today meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Trump’s goal, at what has been called a historic summit, was to improve ties between the two countries. A relationship the president currently describes as having “NEVER been worse.”

Why would he say that? The Cold war ended nearly 30 years ago, tensions were obviously much higher back then. Why would the president say something so patently false?

Let’s assume POTUS is not a total imbecile (for some of you this may be difficult but try to be charitable) and ask, what was the president trying to say?

He meant “I don’t give a good goddamn what comes out of my mouth, you get what I’m trying to say so let’s move on to the next stage of negotiations.” Donald Trump is not a stupid man, merely a profoundly ignorant one. He doesn’t allow protocol, common sense, or even basic facts to interfere with what he wants.
